Reader Comments of the Week
“I certainly agree with David above, some serious care and patience is a requirement. I’d add having a very clear end goal, plan, and most importantly, a solid firearm to start with. Have done plenty of stock swaps, grips, etc, but the real fun comes with unique builds. My favorite was a custom SKS bullpup build. Solid rifle for cheap in the 90s, so great starting point. Hand laminated and carved stock, welding for securing, tapping for barrel brake, but the hardest yet most satisfying was building the cantilever trigger. Trigger pull is no worse than the original, so pretty happy, plus it makes heads turn at the range. Have a second original SKS for nostalgia. Overall, learned a bunch and had a lot of fun.”

“I’ve had my SR1911 for about 3 years now and there’s no pistol like a 1911 but for the money, this is, in my opinion, one of the best shooting and best looking 1911’s money can buy. I absolutely love my SR1911!!”
– ALAN, in response to Range Review: Ruger SR1911 .45 ACP — Pure Performance
“The best scope that I have found under 300.00 dollars is the Osprey Global compact 3x9x42 with either a range finder or mil-dot reticle which is illuminated in red, green or blue. This scope has a very long eye relief, you can be at 4 inches or 9 inches and get the same sight picture instantly. The scope comes with scope mounts, lens covers, and lifetime warranty, and no questions asked. Next time you’re at a gun show look them up, that is where I got mine. You will be surprised how good they are for under 300.00 dollars.”
